 I believe in a good car ride by yourself. Now, I know it sounds weird but hear me out. As a teenager who is out and about a lot, going from school to rehearsal, to picking up my sister, or hanging out with my friends or girlfriend life feels like it is moving a million miles a second sometimes. However, even in the most hectic of weeks I always have the drive between those destinations myself. I really like driving, it is always guaranteed alone time, and for someone as busy as myself, it can be very therapeutic and help relieve me from some of my day's stresses. I can listen to music, an audiobook, or a video that doesn't require watching it. This honestly makes me excited for longer drives because I get to be by myself and listen to something great. It also allows me to quietly reflect on the long day I had or mentally prepare for a big day. For example, I can think about the characters of the shows I'm in and find ways to better my performance, think about unique scenarios for a comic that I am writing, or think (briefly) about schoolwork (I actually came up with this idea while driving home from a Midnight Golf meeting). I am given time to mentally recuperate and have some much-needed time to myself. That is another thing, a long day at school or a particularly challenging rehearsal can be draining, especially if it is a day where I go from school to rehearsal to Midnight Golf. Some nice peace and quiet with myself can be hard to find, especially on days like that, but those car rides in between are just what I need. I remember a night when I had an exceptionally nice and comforting drive. It was the very early morning after the fun weekend in Louisville Kentucky for the National Catholic Forensics League. It was a very fun trip, but I was tired from being out for the whole weekend and a long eight-hour bus ride home. We all also came home just in time for finals week and I still had a lot of studying to do. But, when I began my drive home around 5 AM, I threw on a nice video and it was great. The calming nighttime and empty roads were very nice and it felt great to be out there, free. Which is the last part about a good car ride by myself. The freedom to listen to what I want and go where I want is a great feeling that I will always appreciate.

       There is an epidemic of young boys who lack the desire to read. I believe that a social media campaign, specifically on Instagram, would be the best to spread the message that reading is an amazing activity. I believe Instagram is the best because most of the U of D student body is on the platform, so my message can reach the most amount of people. Because most students passively scroll through Instagram, when they see a post of a book, they can share it on their story for other people to see or save/screenshot it for later.       However, the important part is the way content will be shared. The account will run on a submission system where U of D students and faculty are encouraged to submit any books or articles they may have found interesting. Contemporary Literature Course Reflection

  What were my expectations? I was expecting a fun book club for a class and my expectations were met in that regard but I was not expecting the amount of projects there were.  What was my favorite book? My favorite book was Dark Matter  because of the creative premise and plot and Jason was a very engaging protagonist.  What was my favorite project? I really liked the TED Talk project because of the freedom that came with it. My topic of animation was personal to me so I had a lot of fun with research and sharing something I'm interested in with the class.  Why others take this class? I believe anyone who likes books or Mr. Davidson will have a great time in this class and the variety of books presented were great for anyone.

Dark Matter Book Review

 *spoiler alert* Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch, is a creative, mysterious, and heartfelt scientific fiction novel that tells a great story about regret and the power of true love. We follow Jason Denson a physics professor, his wife Daniella, and his son Charlie. It was Thursday so that meant family night until Jason quickly goes to visit his friend Ryan who won the Pavia Prize for his research on the prefrontal cortex. Ryan asks Jason why he only settled for teaching when apparently he could've been so much more. Feeling  However, the way, he is Kidnapped and forced to drive to a strange location by a person who knows a little too much about Jason. When they arrive Jason gets injected with a mysterious fluid and wakes up in a stretcher in a place he doesn't recognize. Where is he? Who was that guy? Will Charlie and Daniela be okay?
